How To Send And Receive Really BIG Emails

OnALot.com has had to impose a limit of 2 megabytes on the size of incoming and outgoing emails. We did this because some people were trying to send awfully big pictures, videos, music files and such, and they would jam up our server, or the server on the other end. This caused us immense problems, hence the 2 MB limit.

However, there is a way to send and receive really big files. Each way requires some simple modifications, as follows:

Sending BIG Emails

This is fairly simple to do. Just follow these directions

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Accounts
  4. Click on the Mail tab
  5. Click on Properties (on the right)
  6. Click on the Advanced tab
  7. Put a check in the "Break apart messages larger than" box
  8. Enter 500 in the box next to that
  9. Click Apply
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Close

Now any huge emails will be split up into 500 KB chunks and sent, and the mail program on the other end will put them back together. The result is, your mail will now go out, and it will do so faster!

Receiving BIG Emails

This requires the cooperation of the person sending you the big email file. Please ask them to open Outlook Express and follow the directions above for "Sending BIG emails"

You can also send them an email asking them to go to this page:

www.onalot.com/BigEmails.htm

Cut and paste this link into your email, and send it to them. Once they do it, they can send you any size file they wish, and it will come to you and be reconstructed just fine.
