How does our Wireless Service compare to others? 

Dialup = 56K = 56000 bits per second, if you're lucky!  Usually 26.4K
DSL = 768K to 1.5 Mbps, or 768 thousand to 1.5 million bits per second
Satellite = 1.5 Mbps Down, 128K or less (much less) up. Clouds are a big problem.
Cell Phone Internet = Really spotty service. No one we've talked to considers it reliable, but, it is expensive! Speeds are usually 2 - 4 times dialup = slow!

OnALot's Wireless is up to 60 - 100 times faster than dialup, and it's available in areas where DSL isn't, where dialup is disgustingly slow, and where satellite is way too expensive!

We have a lot of customers who have just a cell phone and our Wireless Service - they no longer need a landline telephone!

Do We Drop Out During Bad Weather?

No. We are not like satellite systems where clouds and rain and bad weather cause dropouts. We transmit from a tower close to you, not a satellite 23,000 miles away! The only real weather that affects us is during lightning storms, when static charges can affect our signal.

OnALot.com's Wireless Technology

We have invested heavily in methods to deliver high speed Internet Service via radio waves. Almost all of our systems run in the 2.4 GHz "Wifi" band - similar to what you can find in Hotspots where free wireless internet is offered. The difference is that our equipment is Cisco Systems based, which is the most rugged and reliable on the market. Nearly 85% of the traffic on the Internet runs through Cisco equipment, which is why we chose them for our systems.

New Technologies and OnALot.com

In addition to the above, OnALot.com is also working with other major suppliers to bring faster speeds to our systems. We currently have several backhaul links running at over 24 mbps, and we are adding more as our customer base grows.

Will OnALot.com's System Get Even Faster?

Yes! As our customer base grows, we can put in additional equipment to step up the speeds. We are currently looking into systems in select areas that will offer speeds up to 54 mbps, as well as "non line of sight" systems for hilly areas.

A Word About Cell Phone Internet

Get a bucket, fill it with money, and throw it out the window. At 60 bucks a month, plus airtime (ouch) on an itty-bitty screen, does it really make sense? Email and text messaging is fine, but for serious web browsing, games, printing, word processing and other office type functions, cell phones just don't cut it.

Cell Phone Internet Cards For Your Laptop

We've talked to several people who have one, and they all say the speed and service area is just not there. If you need to check email, fine, but for any speed related activities, or a need for absolute reliability, they probably won't do the job for you. Laptop cell phone cards are about 2X faster than dialup, we're up to 100 times faster. Hardly a race.....
