The Complete Guide for Setting Up and Using Email With OnALot.com!

Call Us First!
Your email account must be entered to our email server to work (see Choosing Your Email Names below) .

This guide applies for all types of setups, including websites, working at home or when you are away. Just click on the appropriate link below to get your email up and running.

New computers that come with the Windows Vista operating system all use Windows Mail. You can use that or OnALot.com's SmarterMail to get or send emails.

This guide covers setting up Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook and OnALot's SmarterMail. Other email programs often look similar to Outlook Express, so you can get your settings there.

If you are not sure what to use, choose Outlook Express - this is the most common choice and works very well for everyone.

How Many Email Names Can I Have?

Joining OnALot.com gets you up to 5 email names, subject to availability. If a name is already used (like john@onalot.com for example) you will have to choose another one, or add something to it to make it unique.

If you need more than 5 email names, we charge $2 per name per month. If you need a really large amount, such as for a business, then please contact us for a bulk price.

Please note that if you leave our service, your email accounts will be deleted without any possibility of recovery, and your names may be given out to others in the future.

Choosing Your Email Names

Email names are like addresses, everyone has one that is unique. Email names are subject to the following rules:

Note: You must call us before setting up email names on your computer. We need the account name and password so we can set them up on our server. If the name you want is already used, you must choose a different one, so please have an alternate handy just in case.

  1. No punctuation can be used. That includes spaces and apostrophies
  2. No capital letters are allowed
  3. Only the lowercase letters a - z and numbers 0 - 9 can be used.
  4. No bad, foul, racial or demeaning words, including your passwords, are allowed. We have final say on it's acceptability.
  5. Unless you have your own website, your email name will end in: @onalot.com
  6. You can have the same password for all your email accounts if you wish. Note: Make your passwords a bit difficult. Hackers often look for email names with simple passwords like 1234 - they use them to spam other people on the internet. A combination of letters and numbers helps make it more secure.
